Fun Fact: The rhythm tracks of this song were recorded live at 16Bars Studio in Jackson, MS with Bobby Rush!
Johnny King got the idea of the song title from his own captain, his uncle, who was a Master Chief in the U.S. Navy, and was a father to him. King thought about making it be a tribute his uncle, but the lyrics took a different turn once he began writing it. The song came to be about a cry for help, for freedom. The end result became a universal cry for freedom!

Where there is water, there is life. We are simply water walkin' around!
This is not the typical 1-4-5 Blues standard chord progression and the lyrics are a bit galactic and cosmic. This song showcases King's ability to write outside of the box, as well as showcasing his soul-singing, piano, and acoustic slide guitar skills.

Probably the first 12-bar version of this song to be released and the only time that Bobby Rush ever sang and recorded it. Rush has two Grammy Awards and is the oldest living Blues Legend in the world. He is the “King Bee” right now.!
Bobby Rush was making his way through on a book tour. King noticed the proximity to his current location and arranged for Rush to meet up at Final Tracks Studios in Roanoke, VA for a quick recording. King asked Rush to include that song in his catalog since it was befitting of his current world status and just to have fun.
